And it all comes down to this...

Tomorrow is my last day with my kids... my first class of kiddos. It has now hit me. I am SO sad!!! I probably won't ever see any of them again :( It has been one of the craziest, but unbelievable years of my life. I thank God for giving me the opportunity to work with a wonderful group of kids.

Green...

I am envious of all of the Teachers now who are out of school... They are done! This Friday CAN NOT get here fast enough!!! I literally have piles and piles of "to-do" things and I can't imagine how I am going to get them all done. But, I will. And I am going to celebrate like YOU can't even imagine on Friday afternoon.

My first year of teaching will be over. I have LOVED every stinkin' minute of it... even the rough patches of insanity... It is when you get little notes (and usually pictures drawn with it) like this that make it all worth it:

"To a loving Teacher who loves her students even when the student always gets into trouble she always forgives her. I (heart) TX Aggies very much"

It melted my heart and has helped me to get through this week's crazy deadlines. :)

The Dark Side...

Yep, I did it. I crossed over to the dark side... I got a wild hair (literally) and dyed my hair darker. Sorry for the puns... I get that from my Dad!! I haven't had a chance to really take a picture of my hair except with my cell phone, but I wanted to post one. I will take a better one soon. Here it is!

Haircuts...

I have a hair appointment on Saturday morning. I have not gotten a haircut since last June. I know... the SHAME! All I can say is.... FYT....First Year Teacher.

I want to get back to my natural color... My highlights have gone a bit brassy. I think she actually put some low lights in last time, but it's been so long, I'm sure they've grown out.

I have decided I do want to keep my hair long. I like it short, but it is SO versatile long, and as much as I hate to admit it-- I LOVE being able to put my hair into a ponytail. I can't live without that!!!

So... my question is, do I get it dyed a bit darker so it will fade to my natural color over time? I am not an expert at ALL on hair color. And, I have found that blonde/lighter highlights tend to turn reddish/brassy over time... So, I really don't want to do that anymore.

Open to thoughts or suggestions!!

Introducing Gale...

I like to name my houses. Well I only own one at a time, but I feel like my house is my child, so I have to name it. Our first house was on Winnetka, so she was aptly named: Winnie. We bought a house in Beaumont (which is not quite ours yet... 2 more weeks!) and she shall be called Gale. Gale is... well, the poor girl needs some help! If you saw our before pictures of Winnie, all I can say is "you ain't seen nothin' yet!"

I didn't realize until I got married and had a place of my own how much I LOVE interior decorating.... And not just the decor part... Seeing the potential that a space has, and working to show it in its best possible light. (No pun intended ;)

So, without further ado, I will give you a sneak peek at our new project... More pictures to come once we have closed!

Mini Vaca in Beaumont

I took a couple of days off and went down to Beaumont to try and get some more face time with principals. Zach and I really enjoyed the long weekend. It was SO nice just bumming around town like we had nothing else to do... can't even remember the last time we got to do that! :)
We went to the McFaddin house, a historical house that used to be owned by a wealthy Beaumont family. It was so interesting!! We also ate some crawfish at Larry's Fish Market & Cajun restaurant... It really felt like a mini vacation! It was hard to leave and go back home!

Get your motor runnin'...Dead cat on the highway

As I often point out, I am a huge music fan. I have a very strange memory in that I can remember the most random things, such as lyrics. My good friend Ryan and I love to belt out some tunes on the Wii with American Idol or Rock Band. Well, I was reading one of my favorite magazines (REAL SIMPLE) and came across this quiz that had me laughing out loud in the middle of Barnes and Noble, so I had to share! The aforementioned Ryan is notorious for making up his own lyrics. I don't think I ever have laughed as hard as when he sings the lyrics. I love that about him! If you are also a music fan, this will probably have you in stitches too! Enjoy!
